Family has gone off to do some museum-hopping, leaving me behind to get some work done. So of course, having missed my usual Thursday night of viewing, I used the time to catch up with CSI, thanks to innertube. Yay innertube!

The episode rocked. And not just because of Daltry, although he was great fun. Just a good ep, overal, with emphasis on hands-on labwork and whatnot. It is very odd, however, when watching innertube, to suddenly have everything out-of-cue like a badly dubbed Japanese monster movie.... (it only lasted a few frames, but made me do a doubletake)

That was a remarkably good CSI episode (though I guessed the connection between the three seemingly different killers instantly). It's almost as if it was written by someone who'd never seen CSI before and so didn't feel the need to follow formula, make the characters talk like expositional robots the way they sometimes do, or have one of those people-doing-stuff-to-music montages.

Of course it also meant that there was almost no interaction between the characters themsels, and no building on anything previously established. That wa a real and noticable weakness to the show, seven seasons in...

I don't know, it did delve into Catherine's daddy issues. I loved her flashback story, by the way.

the Catherine-at-16 was great, yeah (I wondered if the actress was related to Marg, actually). However, it felt like they were doing a retread with "my dad wasn't a mobster." Been there, proven than. Or near enough.

The line about "it's been great fun" made me flash on Fitz from Highlander. I'm glad I never saw a trailer for this episode; I rather enjoyed being surprised, and was a little embarrassed at not recognizing Daltrey before the end.

Yup. All the more reason for me to be embarrassed. Between the Highlander thing and that Dale once worked for him, I really should have recognized him. Bad Jules. No donut.
