You Know You're a Freelancer When...
Feb. 23rd, 2004 10:30 pmMaking a pot of high-test at 10 pm seems a perfectly reasonable idea.
Since I really need milk in my coffee, and I'm genetically predisposed to
NOT drink milk, I've broken down and bought soymilk. I hate the stuff on
its own, but I got some that's vanilla-flavored, and it actually works quite
well in coffee.
The other clue that you're a freelancer, whih I exemplified last week, is
when you're 20 minutes early for a lunch date, and you scout out a Starbucks
so you can glom a table and get some work done. With your cell phone out
and within reach Just In Case.
I hate being a stereotype.
On the other hand, I remember days when I was doing the office routine,
seeing the people who were having long lunches, and walking their dogs,
and generally Not Being 9-5, and thinking "that... would be nice."
It is. :-)
And another 1500 words done on Retrievers #2, and I was feeling twitchy and energized throughout much of the scene. That's always a good sign.
