for me to give in, bite the bullet, embrace the ego, and put a photo and bio up on my web site.

Ugh.

I hate doing these things. Once the length has been hammered out(50 words? 100? 1000?) I never know if I should go for straight bio-speak in third person, a first-person narrative, go cute, go snark, get a guest-biographer to do it for me....

Anyone have any suggestions?

(I suspect that the photo choice will be easier -- something that's less than five years old and doesn't make me think "oh dear god, no...." There's got to be a photo like that somewhere, non?)

You have plenty of pictures. Even in con photos, you photograph very well. And if you're not sure, write one of each of your major choices and then pick, perhaps?

For Photo, you can always do an image search on google using your name. There's a couple of good ones out there, don't know how old they are though.

Hmmm... well, maybe someone else can write the bio.

And I have NEVER seen a bad picture of you. You're a pretty lady who photographs well. So let's not hear this guff about bad pictures. You are not an unbiased source. :)

Neener. Neener. And also Neener.

Hardly.
You did that web-cast interview thingie a while, while back wearing a chinese dress.
That was hot.
I don't think meerkats are hot...at least not in a chinese dress kind of way.
Oh $#&@ , I'm typing faster than my internal editor can work again...

I say get a hi-rez image from that interview and use that.

Definitely agree with Jeff. You looked great in that Chinese blue thingy. I wouldn't go as far as "hot", but definitely "cool".

Snark the bio. It's what we did, after I began tearing my hair out.

My votes -- either first person, or guest bio by the cats...

And not only a bio by the cats...

...let them be in charge of protecting you from trolls. Take a picture that has you holding or petting cats (preferably a photo you like). I will make two author photos, and we can have the one of cats and your hands at one point, and a click-through to see the full scale pic.

You'd be amazed how many people, when I say the photo's on the web site, say: "We need one of you, not the gargoyle."

In my minds eye I always see you dashing up the aisle at a auction for the SFWA medical thing at the WC in Texas. You are full of joy and laughter. Pick a picture where you are laughing. You are one of those people who light the room up.
