I'm looking for author promo pictures that I can put up on LibraryThing (http://www.librarything.com/). Specifically, I'd like a picture that complies with copyright laws that I can put up on your author page (http://www.librarything.com/author/gilmanlauraanne).
I thought about just sending an e-mail but I figure you can more easily determine that I'm a real person if I post here.
I have a similar problem. I've been told, "You're a photographer, why aren't there more pictures of you." I usually just -look- at them.
I notice that there are a number of good pictures if put Laura Anne Gilman into Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/images?q=%22Laura%20Anne%20Gilman%22). With your permission, I'll send e-mail to the photographers asking for their permission to use their photos. Are there any that you are particularly prefer to be used? I thought this one (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.bluejack.com/b2/sff/au/img/gilman.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.bluejack.com/b2/sff/au/gilman.html&h=200&w=162&sz=8&&tbnid=_zLjf8-BfwmvxM:&tbnh=104&tbnw=84) is rather complimentary and looks standard for a promo photo and this one (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.future-classics.org/torcon/images/saturday/sat03_lauraagil.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.future-classics.org/torcon/satpics.html&h=384&w=256&sz=38&tbnid=OimCKCVud1_pMM:&tbnh=123&tbnw=82) would also work and might be more reflective of your viewpoint. What do you think?
The first one is NOT one I'd want up on my bio, thanks anyway. The second one as taken by Ellen Datlow and I've used it before, with her blessing. But let me see what I can gather on my own, first.
