air travel today
Aug. 10th, 2006 08:02 pmJust got an e-mail from my sister, who was traveling home from Paris to Boston today (via Dublin). She reports that the lines were long and the amounts of toothpaste and coffee tossed by the wayside immense, but tempers were remarkably mellow, and all the bottles and whatnot they had to check made it through safe, sound, and unpilfered.

I was dumb struck at the stupidity of screening folks again at the gate to keep them from taking in beverages that they'd bought once they past through security (heard the governor being quoted as that being part of the reason he'd called in the National Guard, can't recall if it was Romney from Mass or Pataki from NY, which ever they win the total bonehead award for my day.)
Am I cynical in thinking that the new rules will last until the first congress critter ends up flying non-first class and experiences it themselves?
Fingers crossed for a return to sanity soon.
