Ick, of all formats I hate Adobe. (even more than the rest of the DRM out there)

Fictionwise has it in Secure Mobipocket and Microsoft Reader formats, which I prefer (in that order).

Yeah, they have been almost since release. But they're tie-in work, so I don't count them as 'mine.'

No, I don't think they will. They'll be out there endlessly, because nothing ever 'fades' from the Internet. What I think about people who think that they have some right, economic, moral or otherwise, to 'share' freebie copies of my copyrighted work -- the stuff I make my living from -- is not fit to be seen on a family-friendly screen. You may scorn or dislike 'protected' formats, but I dislike even more having my paycheck stolen from me by pirates. I suspect, if they were to come in and take a slice off your paycheck, even the mostferverent open souce advocate would feel similar.

(and don't anyone dare tell me that I should be flattered, or that I shouldn't expect to get paid for those copies -- do YOU expect to get paid for the job you do? I bet you do...)

Oh, I wasn't ranting at you, was ranting on the topic in general. And I wish I was as convinced as the relative innocence of these -- let's call them freebooters -- but we used to deal with the pure pirates on a regular basis in the old job, and they not only had no shame, but were often quite Righteous about what they were doing.

This is also why I've had to take a stand against fanfiction and the related games -- because too many people out there think that 'copyright' is meaningless, or something aimed at merely keeping them from doing what they want, rather than protecting people like me.
