lagilman: coffee or die (surrender the manuscript)

"She shook her head; her hair, still wet from the shower she had taken once the bathroom was spotless, slid against the back of her neck.  'You’re a sick, sick man.

'True. But I brought dinner, so I’m forgiven.'

She had heard him messing about in the kitchen just after he came in. 'And do we have a Christmas goose resting in the oven?'

She looked up at him again as she said it, and did a classic doubletake at the crestfallen look of ‘surprise ruined’ on his face.

'A goose?' She did not squeal – she never squealed – but the noise was apparently enough to restore some of Sergei’s self-satisfaction, even as she launched herself onto him in an exuberant hug. 'Goose!'

The world, apparently, could go to hell in a snow-covered handbasket, so long as one had goose for dinner."

Today I have holed myself up on the sofa, Pandora curled at my hip as usual, to crank out as many words as can be cranked.  There is a 2--liter bottle of diet coke by my side, and dvds in the machine ("Howl's Moving Castle" this morning, the Ehle/Firth "Pride and Prejudice" this afternoon,), and nothing else to be done that cannot be put off until Monday.  I shall resurface at some point in the future..

I'm-a ping you about something later; putting an anthology proposal together and wondered if you wanted to play, as one of the four "Names" to anchor it.

Working title: Drabbling: Writing the World in a Hundred Words.

Yes, my agent will handle and advise.

Interested?

If we're getting together while I'm back east, we can hunker down and discuss (among many other cool and groovy things). I'll need a fourth Name (with a track record and some Name recognition, which is what Four Anchoring Names seems to be in aid of): we have you, me and hopefully Amy Garvey, who's a regular participant in the GWW drabbling community.

Hee! Goose! That reminds me (oddly)... On the way home the other day I was gazing out the bus window as I always do, and as we passed by a parking lot along 46E in Little Falls I saw a pair of adult Canada geese strolling along, followed by a veritable horde of goslings. Didn't have time to count how many, so horde will do. Look, shit factories in training!

When're you going to be in this area next? You're cordially invited to visit with the kittens. And there's a bottle of Woodford Reserve in the cupboard, along with all the other usual liquid gold.

The Castle in the Sky soundtrack is pretty neat too. (both are composed by Joe Hisaishi)

I will say that I could see the influence DWJ had on Miyazaki, but the movie told a completely differnt story that just had the same characters. Both good, but not to be crossed with each other. :) Not a complaint at all.

Sounds like Earthsea is the next project Studio Ghibli is looking at. Should be intersting.

Yeah, I read the book after I saw the movie (being a far bigger fan of all Ghibli films than DWJ), and was surprised at HOW different they were... but I was still able to enjoy both... (unlike X-Men III)

And yeah, I heard something about Studio Ghibli and Earthsea... and I had a fit of happiness... I mean, they couldn't do any worse than SciFi, who COMPLETELY reversed Ged/SparowHawk as use and true names... WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT??!?

Pet peeve...
