News comes to me that Dan Lundy has died. There're maybe three five people out in LJ land who know who Dan was. And that's a shame, because he was one of the best in-house advocates an author ever had. The director of academic and library marketing/sales at Penguin, unlike many sales guys, Dan read, and loved reading, and loved authors, even when they were making him nuts. He listened to what editors had to say, and took our recommendations seriously, and I know for a fact that we would not have done as well at Ace/Roc without his support.
Gone from us at age 51, from complications from lung cancer.
Damn it.
UPDATE: Donations can be made in his name to Pinelands Preservation Alliance, 17 Pemberton Road, Southampton, NJ 08088, 609-859-8860.
