1 May, and the start of the hard rush through the middle of the book. Can't stop, can't look down, can't get distr---oh, shiny! *slaps self* back to it, woman.

As an aside, the soundtrack of the day seems to be the Alan Parsons Project -- something about their style is making the words flow. It's not the first time I've noted that this specific album (Ultimate) seems to have a resonance with this book, but it is the first time I've spent all morning with it on repeat.

I try not to draw conclusions from this sort of thing. But one song keeps creeping into my awareness...

The traveller is always leaving town
He never has the time to turn around
And if the road he's taken isn't leading anywhere
He seems to be completely unaware

The traveller is always leaving home
The only kind of life he's ever known
When every moment seems to be
A race against the time
There's always one more mountain left to climb

Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday, you'll know where you are
Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day, you'll know where you are

The traveller awaits the morning tide
He doesn't know what's on the other side
But something deep inside of him
Keeps telling him to go
He hasn't found a reason to say no

The traveller is only passing through
He cannot understand your point of view
Abandoning reality, unsure of what he'll find
The traveller in me is close behind

Days are numbers
Watch the stars
We can only see so far
Someday, you'll know where you are
Remember
Days are numbers
Count the stars
We can only go so far
One day, you'll know where you are

Lord, it's been years since listen to any APP. Time, is flowing like a river ... to the sea .. to the sea ... (and ain't that the damned truth????)

How are you on The Moody Blues?

In a perverse way I'm so pleased you mentioned you find Middles hard. Lord. I find them ... quite bothersome myself .... *g*

I can't do music with words in. All my writing music is movie soundtrack stuff. Nice and emotional. But even then I have to be careful. There are some tracks I can't write to, I have to stop in frozen silence and just listen. With the volume cranked waaaaaay up.

Like the orchestral version of the barn building sequence from Witness. That makes me cry. And the main theme from Born on the Fourth of July. Ditto. Also a Carl Orff track I first heard on Badlands, that was later reworked by Hans Zimmer for True Romance. I can write through the Zimmer version, but if the Orff is on that's it, I'm up there dancing.

I'm the same way. I love the LOTR soundtracks and also any "spacey" music from Dean Everson, Andreas Vollenweider or Paul Horn.
