Was so gorgeous out, and I had Accomplished this morning, so I took bike, book (TALES BEFORE TOLKIEN, edited by Douglas Anderson), and self off to the park. Lovely few hours sitting by the banks of a lazy creek, reading short stories purely for pleasure in the sunlight, while small children played in a well-behaved fashion behind me, thinking thoughts about homes of the body, homes of the heart, and homes of the soul.
And then, of course, I came home to find that while my skin and soul enjoyed the interlude, my knees did not. I'm sitting here, heating pad wrapped around said achey knee, beng moderately cranky about my joints and the lapsed warranty thereof.
But it really was a lovely afternoon. And the felines, sensing my crankiness, have determined to entertain me: Boomer races across the dining room into the living room, allowing Pandora to leap, bridge-troll-like, from under the coffee table and swat him on the ass. He leaps onto the windowsill that leads out to the sunporch, discovers it's been closed against cooler eveing air, does a 90 degree turn and races back into the kitchen, Pandora hot on his heels.
Rinse, repeat.
Silly cats. No amount of ache is proof against felines.
And tomorrow all I have planned is to sit at the computer, leg propped up as/if needed, and do that writing thing.

Date: 2006-04-21 04:23 am (UTC)Normally I don't like to leave links, because it seems odd. Like giving a personal movie review to someone on the street. But your cat talk made it seem, if you've never seen it before, that you would enjoy Solange, the cat in 9 Chickweed Lane.
I give you "annotated" Solange: http://www.cafepress.com/chickweed/2306
