when you start a phone conversation by saying "we're both fine, everything's okay."
Item 1: A large chunk of concrete in the middle of I-95 Southbound.
Item 2. A large truck hitting concrete and sending it flying.
Item 3. My beloved Darcy, shuddering under the impact of said flying concrete.
Lots of front fender damage, but needs a professional to tell me how much. Humans in the car are fine and dandy and not bleeding or bruised. That's the important thing.
I'll worry about the insurance tomorrow. Tonight, I'm cuddling felines and drinking a glass of wine and being thankful that I drive an Audi.

Date: 2006-04-18 11:52 pm (UTC)Interestingly enough, at no point was I scared, or even nervous. I saw the concrete, thought it was a paper bag or something 'normal' in the way of road debris, an then we heard this heavy thunk and I think J. swore, and a truck honked at us, to let us know something was wrong, and I was too busy dealing with everything to be scared. Annoyed, yeah -- my poor Darcy! -- but not scared.
And once there were other people pulled over to the side of the road, I was occupied dealing with them. Am very thankful J. was there, though, just in case I did start to shred.

Date: 2006-04-18 11:59 pm (UTC)Fenders are expensive to replace (and everything ends up being more expensive than the estimates anyway).
