lagilman: coffee or die (Boomer and Booze)

I have become a cat-tree.

I'm sitting at my desk, innocently typing away, and Boomer comes up and jumps on the chair behind me.

This is not unusual. I continue typing.

He places his paws on my back. Also not unusual. I continue.

He scrabbles up my back, using all four paws but thankfully no claws, until he is perched like a monkey on my back, his chin resting on my shoulder as though to read what I've been typing. I pause, look at him and ask, rather calmly, "what are you doing?"

He was, apparently, on his way to my shoulders, where he draped himself like the world's heaviest orange-fur boa until I, laughing too hard, had to move him to the actual cat-tree next to me.

He then tried to do it a second time, being cat of no brain but much determination.

I get the hint. Time to take a break.

I once had a cat that draped himself across my shoulders when I was on the computer. He figured out that was a way to get me to pay attention to him without me getting annoyed and tossing him off. Thankfully, he was a little cat (about 7 pounds). :)

Hopeless. Some friends of mine once had a cat named Hopeless. He had no bones, as far as anyone could tell from his disposition, and was willing to stay in any position in which he was placed. He could, in fact, be worn as a boa. I recall him as a medium-sized cat, but don't know how much he weighed.

Our current cat likes high places and will climb onto shoulders, but decides within moments that this high place is not where she meant to be.

That's kind of adorable.

Since I have a Golden Retriever, her climbing up my body isn't really an option.

Does she know that? I had a teacher once who raised Dobermans. One of them thought he was a lap dog. Quite entertaining. (Sweet animal; she didn't raise them to eat people.)

Yes, Dobermans are beautiful - and can be quite sweet. And let's just say the physical improbabilities of this dog sitting in my lap are numerous. She's half my bodyweight and more than half my size. =D

My cat does that all the time. She's large, but fortunately rather skinny.

LOL! Wish my baby would do cute things like that, but he's not a pick me up (or let me climb all over you) kind of cat.

*l* That is too sweet!

I love your icon - if I had a nickel every time I've discovered my Jane with her face in my cup I wouldn't have to work for a living. :-) Usually the drink goes flying right afterward.

Is that Boomer's Hobson imitation?
