I like:

My kitchen. It is large, and sunny, and even though the sink is in the pantry, I seem to be able to work well in it. Is it my dream kitchen? Not even close. But it will do. And it has a ceiling fan!

My office. Okay, so it's still in the unpacking stages, but the vibes feel good. And I can sit at my desk and look at shelves of books with my name on them, and remember why I do this (and what pays the rent; a useful reminder, some days!)

My bedroom. In a word, cozy. In three words, good for sleeping.

My downstairs neighbors, who are cool and casual and drive a bright yellow Bug.

I dislike:

Somewhere, something in this house occasionally lets out a hum that is exactly the same as the vibration my cell phone gives off when it's set on vibrate-alert. This will drive me mad, eventually.

My upstairs neighbors, who are heavy-footed and noisy on the stairs. And why oh why will they not put rugs down? Not only is is considerate to your downstairs neighbors to do so, but, dude, these hardwood floors get cold! Muffle them toesies and heelsies!

Not having cable or cable modem until Tuesday. Writer is not meant to live withouth background noise distraction and/or reliable connectivity. *twitch*

I am confused by:

At some point, I was allowed onto a secured wireless connection used by someone on this street. The signal's not great, but...that's not supposed to happen, is it?

------------------------
For those being impressed by my get-it-done-iveness, feel better: the only thing of note I managed today was unpacking the office shelves and putting about half the books there away. Everything else got sidetracked by general "look, it's stopped raining!" Sundayitis. And tomorrow, it's Back To Work.

But first, a DVD. Decisons, decisions: should it be HOW TO STEAL A MILLION? The first season of REMINGTON STEELE? A Robin Williams special? Or, for a total change of pace, PRIDE & PREJUDICE (The Firth/Ehle edition)?

And, to go with whatever I choose, the first glass of single malt in the new apartment. :-)

Enjoy!

Also, you can never go wrong with Pride and Prejudice.

Unless the TV trailers use modern pop songs as the background music. I took an instant dislike to the most recent movie adaptation when I saw/heard that.

I was nearly confused there because I was watching "How to Marry a Millionaire" last night and wondering how Peter O'Toole wound up in that movie... bad enough I didn't recognize the older William Powell.

Ooh.

Remington Steele seems like a natural thing for malt somehow. The unsecured wireless shouldn't happen if they take care of their wireless, but people often don't know how to do that.

Ermmm no. And unless you're comfortable with giving that someone access to your computer, or mirroring every keystroke you're typing, I would highly suggest not using it. Fo' reals.

Congrats on the new digs with all its good and bad things. But any apartment with a cozy bedroom is good to me.

On a recent trip, we accidentally created a "Slug bug" variation, reserved for yellow beetles -- "yug bug" :: grin ::
