the suri has landed...
Apr. 8th, 2006 02:55 pmThe movers have come and gone into the cold gray rain, and I am surrounded by My Stuff. Most of the packing boxes have already been unpacked and broken down, and the packing materials shoved into garbage bags, and I am in the process of arranging each room Just So*. Yes, I am a Virgo, why do you even bother to ask?
(okay, none of the artwork is unpacked, and the office is still a disaster. I'm not a strong enough woman to tackle the books, yet. But the lounge is all set up and is comfy and appealing, and I wish I could invite all of you over for tea.)
The felines, having been Traumatized by the entire experience, are sniffing around, checking out the new arangements, and (in Boomer's case) periodically looking at me to ask where his buddy Bou's gone to. That said, Pandora and Boomer were almost friendly to each other last night, as I woke up to find them curled this.close together at my feet. It may never happen again, but I have hopes.
So, I am curled on loveseat, laptop set to unsecured internet (I get my hookup on Tuesday, along with the television), listening to the rain fall outside (pause: is that...snow? No. I refuse to accept it; therefore it is Rain), contemplating the remains of the donuts, and wondering if I should try to do some work, or make the bed and take a nap...
Sunday. There's always Sunday to get work done. Right?

Look for actual paper mail, containing good wishes. Some things need to be done on paper.
Don't work until Monday. You are building a nest. Let that happen.
Joy, sex, wine, tea, and solace. Joy.

Date: 2006-04-08 08:17 pm (UTC)I just took leftover doughnuts to downstairs neighbors, who are grad students and therefore must love doughnuts. That's a rule I just made up, but apparently it's true. Doughnuts and hot tea, on a rainy Saturday. Yum.
and Pandora is doing chin-ups in order to open the drawer of the buffet so she can take a nap amongst the tablecloths. I. Think. Not...

Date: 2006-04-08 09:49 pm (UTC)Well, donuts and KD, that is. :-D
Hope the new place turns out nice. Was there any particular reason for the move? Larger windows, or an increased sniffing area for the cats?
Sounds as if youre getting the snow us more north faced yesterday. Big fluffy chunks of impossibly-existing white stuff. Ugh. Of course, winter hasn't yet melted from my parents lawn, so I guess I really shouldn't be complaining ;-)

Congrats on your new home! And may I say I am very impressed with all this unpacking. You could come down and -- but no, that's not practical...
