Bush Backs Away From His Claims About Iraq Arms
By DAVID E. SANGER
Published: January 28, 2004

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 — President Bush declined Tuesday to repeat his claims
that evidence that Saddam Hussein had illicit weapons would eventually be
found in Iraq, but he insisted that the war was nonetheless justified because
Mr. Hussein posed "a grave and gathering threat to America and the world."

Asked by reporters if he would repeat earlier expressions of confidence
that the weapons would be found in light of recent statements by the former
chief weapons inspector in Iraq, David A. Kay, that Mr. Hussein had gotten
rid of them well before the war, Mr. Bush did not answer directly.

Ya-huh. So we take away this that its very very bad to lie under oath about
your sex life, but okay to lie repeatedly to the American people about why
you're sending them to fight and die?

Many of us trusted you when you said there was a high risk. Now we discover
that the documents you cited were "deeply flawed" and there were doubts
raised even at the time you were waving them like the flag. Just like your
claim that Saddam had tried to buy weapons form the Soviet Union. Remember
that? You speak these words, and they are lies, and you seem to neither
know nor care.

We know. We care. We hoped we were wrong when we suspected you were full of shite, but confirmation gives us a vehicle for our anger.

And we will not vote for you.
