Blizzard of '06 check-in
Feb. 12th, 2006 10:38 amUPDATE: 26.9 inches in Central park. It's an Official Record
UPDATE #2: The plows are here! The plows are here!
My mom (she who does not have an LJ...yet) reports they're reporting 22.8" in Central Park. My dad's already predicting Historic Storm status (they've just confirmed that on the news -- second worst storm, so far).
The guys shoveling out their cars outside are up to their hip bones when they step off the curb, so we're estimating at least a foot, probably closer to 16" here.
Anyone else got reportage to report?

Date: 2006-02-12 04:34 pm (UTC)I love snow, I do, but we have tickets for Kismet tonight with the delectable Brian Stokes Mitchell, and have not yet decided if we are going to brave the streets and Metro-North (which appears to be running) or not. I am definitely in non-adventure mode but the rest of the house is still thinking we could maker it.
The show will go on, says the City Center web site, but I don't know if we will be there.

Date: 2006-02-13 04:47 am (UTC)I always will remember,
'twas a year ago November,
I went out to hunt some grouse
With law partners barely souse(d).
I went and shot the maximum the game laws would allow,
Two lawyers, one vice-president, and a cow.
I was in no mood to trifle,
I took down my trusty rifle
And went out to stalk my prey.
What a haul I made that day.
I tied them to my fender, and I drove them home somehow,
Two lawyers, one vice president, and a cow.
The law was very firm, it
Took away my permit,
The worst punishment I ever endured.
It turned out there was a reason,
Veeps were out of season,
And one of the layers wasn't insured.
People ask me how I do it,
And I say, "There's nothin' to it,
You just stand there lookin' cute,
And when something moves, you shoot!"
And there's four stuffed heads in my trophy room right now,
Two laywers, one vice president, and a pure-bred Guernsey cow.
(okay, so that's not quite how it happened. But it clearly _might_ have!)
