woke up this morning to a familiar lack of sound -- the almost total silence of an early morning nor'easter.
And then a low, rolling booom made me think "thunder?"
Nah, must be a Very Brave Snowplow trying to get through.
But nope, it was indeed thunder.
Thundersnow! Mother Nature's so very very cool.
Otherwise, looks to be a classic nor'easter. Anywhere from 8-12 inches forecast for our town, maybe more by the time it's all over. Thankfully, the timing of this storm means that most of us can stay indoors sans guilt, and let the plows and whatnot do their job. So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Date: 2006-02-12 02:46 pm (UTC)Yep, that's exactly the plan. With maybe some actual new writing thrown in, as the scene I'm working on now deals with a major showstorm.... (which is a change, as usually I'm writing a book dealing with a summer heat wave in winter, or winter during the summer, or...)
Snow has totally covered the cars out front on the street, making them vague white snowy mounds. And someone attemted to start up a snow blower and gave up in disgust after about ten minutes. Dude. Coulda' told you that....

Date: 2006-02-12 03:59 pm (UTC)Dad didn't go quite that far, but he tried to be prepared. I wasn't strong enough to haul on those old ropes to start it, so I just found a shovel and got to work.
Can't say I miss that part--although I'd trade any amount of ice storms for that snow, no hesitation. Didn't think they had ice down here. And without plows or salt, everything stops with an inch of ice (except Bubbas in pickups, sublimely convinced of their immortality...and ability to drive on ice.)
