Wendy's dead?

Wendy's dead?

I'm having a lot of trouble with this.

I first encountered Wendy and her work through my mom, who moved in some of the same social circles, back in the 80's. It was a brief encounter, but a lasting impression. I was struck not only by her clear brilliance, but by her humor, which encompased and went beyond the classic Jewish female insight and chutzpah, and into a category all its own.

And she's gone. At age 55.

I'm sort of numb.

I know the feeling. I heard this on the radio this morning and was just struck dumb. It's a life—'and work—ended much too soon.
