Ow. But not all is bad.
Jan. 20th, 2006 11:28 pmI have f***ed up my knee. I have no idea how -- sometime mid-afternoon it felt as though someone had tied a knot in the cartiledge. By evening, it was stiff and aching. It currently hurts like a m**********r.
I'm supposed to work a full shift tomorrow. This should be... interesting.
On the plus side, pain seemed to focus my mind wonderfully, as the knot in the plot has untangled, smoothed out, and extended the interweaving threads well into the fifth book and prepared to tie the entire series up in a nice neat bow... while still leaving enough string to weave book 6, which is going to ...what? You really thought I was going to tell you? Silly wabbits.
You take what victories you can. At least until the painkillers kick in.

Date: 2006-01-21 06:46 am (UTC)Have you tried the new ThermaCare wraps? They're not the old-style chemical rubs that act on your skin. ThermaCare is a line of a fabric bandage with pockets of air-activated heating crystals designed to work on various body parts.
I injured my knees a couple of years ago, and I could never get any relief from the standard "bag of frozen peas" therapy. (My knees like cold about as much as your cats.) But these wraps feel amazing.
In theory, you could even wear them under jeans. The only hitch is that the wraps are "one size fits most". They don't stay put on small-boned women. But I find the effects last well over 24 hours, so you might be able to use it as a prep for work.
Around here, CVS seems to have the largest selection, but I suspect the products are carried in all the major drug store chains.
Healing wishes,

Date: 2006-01-21 11:26 am (UTC)yankmassage my knee back into proper alignment. But this feels different, somehow -- neither heat nor cold seems to be bringing lasting relief.I just wish I knew what I'd done to trigger this, so I'd know not to do it again...

Date: 2006-01-21 04:19 pm (UTC)Manayunk's a nice place, good restaurants (I can highly recommend Le Bus, on Main), parking wasn't at all a problem, but nothing lit me on fire, alas.
