Visually lovely, oh my yes. I want one of those mini magic dragns! And overall it did as good a job as it could in the running time I suppose.

But the sense of depth and scope and texture we've had in previous movies? The things that make the books such oversized feasts? Missing. A gaping hole of missing, in fact.

I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong. But I have no desire to see it again. Interesting. I've dealt with adaptions before, and not had this extreme a reaction. Did they gut the story? Or am I just becoming disenchanted? Need to ponder that some more.

And tomorrow is a full day of work and then I'm off for the Great Gilman Festival of Family until Sunday. If my mom didn't make a pecan pie this year, I shall know she truly doesn't love me (she didn't make one last year and I fell onto the floor and wept. Okay, I pouted on the sofa. The point was made, nonetheless)

I have many things I am thankful for this year, but they boil down to three basics, in mostly reverse order:

my health
my career's health
my best-beloveds, friends and family without whom health and career would be pointless. I love you guys.

Okay, yes, and the felines. Even when they do wake me up at 4am.

Safe travels, bebe. Right this moment, the thing I'm most thankful for is that I'm not a turkey.

He's thinking about pardoning Lewis Libby. (No joke, alas)

You know how tired I am? I'm in the middle of a chapter segment in which there is not only hot sex, but hot sex with undercurrents.

And I'm too tired to write it properly.

There's just no way to condense all that into 2 1/2 hours. We've reached the point that in order to do the books justice, we need to knock off the movies and do Harry Potter - the Series. The books already written are good for at least 44 hour episodes.

I went to see Harry with five friends and we all had the same feeling about the end...it just kind of peetered out with no emotional pay off. Bah and humbug.
