Halloween meme. Sort of. And a quiz.
Oct. 30th, 2005 09:08 pmI haven't been able to properly celebrate Halloween in a long time, due to WFC, and it's not the same holiday it was when I was a kid, anyway (shall save y'all the rant about 'when I was a kid, we...'). But I still fondly remember the great work-up to the actual day, crafting and creating the Best Possible Costume, and hoping against hope that the weather would co-operate...
So what was everyone's favorite-ever costume? (Convention Masquerades don't count, sorry Terri)
I have two -- in high school, a group of us went as gangsters and gun molls. I got an old suit from someone's dad, a slim-line chalk stripe, added my own fedora, and used the gangster-traditional violin case (sans violin) to hold out candy-loot. We kicked some candy-collecting ass, we did.
In the 'solo' category, my punk unicorn outfit (some of you may remember a more mild version from the Hartford AIDS Walk some years back). White bodysuit, black leather boots, white mane with a purple streak added, purple-black horn with a horn-ring, black leather finger-gloves and various other accessories.
my least-favorite was in college, going as a Cat-from-"Cats." The costume was lovely (a tabby-patterned leotard and tights, and had a friend in theater arts do my makeup) but the skin-unhappy aftermath from said makeup made it not a good memory. Skin is sensitive. Skin must be coddled. Skin does not think theatrical makeup=coddling. Lesson learned.
And the quiz --
