Since Tuesday, we've had over a foot of rain.

14.2", to be exact, in the most closest-to-us town measured.

And it's supposed to rain all weekend, too.

An official state of emergency has been declared for the entire state.

As natural disasters go, it's not much to complain about. Not when you look around, nationally and internationally.

But it ain't easy, either.

How long before you get to the proverbial 40 days and 40 nights?

I hope so, I'm supposed to take an evening tour of Green-Wood Cemetery, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, please send some of it our way. Sydney will run out of water in a matter of months -- we haven't had proper rainfall in the cachement areas for years. Literally.

My parents called last night "just to check" because of all the Boston flooding news stories. We're high....well, as high as Boston area can get...and dry.

Boy, do I ever hear you. I can vaguely recall what the sun looks like., the Saw Mill River Parkway shut down for the fourth day in a row and even the sidewalks look waterlogged.

Looking down on the streets, Manhattan looks like a river of golf umbrellas. I'd like the rain to stop if only to get rid of those damned golf umbrellas.

I keep thinking of the old Bill Cosby comedy routine:

"Noah!"
"Yes, Lord?"
"How long can you tread water?"

Welcome to New Hampshire! (We are thankful that the major damage is west of us, but we are still very, very wet.)

Wow. That's more water than we get ... in a year.

If this keeps up, I'm going to lose my last twinges of regret about living inland, impending water crisis and all. (See, any state that could, like, catch and ship all that excess water west could be ... really, really wealthy.)

Well, it's blessedly stopped raining where I am. Hopefully the weathermen are all correct and it's done. Other than some leaking tiles at work, we're good. *crosses fingers*

So how's your survival floating? Hope you're on the second floor...

Send some of it here. Not all of it--but we'd gladly take some of it.

Every time I read your posts about the rain, or my brother's up in the same area, I think: man, if we got that much rain down here... my living room would be floating. Suddenly the days of "yay, rain for a week" don't seem so comfy, with a creek only two hundred or so feet away, and about six feet down.

Yes, I do have flood insurance. Cripes.

heh... the radio station randomly picked THIS WEEK to stick our morning show in a bed together in a tent in a parking lot that has flooded at least 3 times.

if you want to see the horror unfold, there's a webcam up at http://www.grockradio.com it's strangely fascinating. my rump has been on that webcam TOO MANY TIMES this week... my feet will never un-soggy, at this rate.

(at least it's all for a good cause, the goal is $50,000 for the susan g. komen breast cancer foundation. but MAN OH MAN! on wednesday, the wind blew three 10x10 tents across the parking lot, where they smashed into each other and snapped.)
