"editorial style is rigid yet evolving, so we expect our writers to have the ability to deal professionally with constructive criticism."

When you see this, run, do not walk, to the next listing. Really. Trust Auntie Suri.

"We expect our writers to not scream like little girls, and shut up and make the fixes we demand."

Boggles the mind... really...

You see vague, contradictory statements like that in education administration a lot, or at least you do in this part of the country. Since one would naturally expect professionals to deal with constructive criticism, I'm assuming they've had problems with writers calling them out on their bizzarre editorial preferences and practices.

If I say I'm confused, does that mean I'm not dealing with constructive LJ'ing?

Our writers must be flexible, because we are not.

Except that we'll ask for changes right up until the last minute. We're very flexible about that.

We don't know what we want, but we'll know it when we see it.

I know these people!

You don't want to work with them. No one does.

They're having much too much fun.

IOW, "Our editorial style, whatever it happens to be at the moment, is carved in stone and we don't care what the writer thinks."
