This morning I'm driving back from Long Island, and I see a warning sign: "congestion in lower Manhattan."
Yeah, I think. Yeah.
So I take the midtown tunnel instead... and come into the city on the stroke of 8:46, and the radio station I'm listening to goes to a moment of silence.
I drive down 47th Street, and see the firefighters outside their station, in full dress.
You heal, as best you can. You go on. You live.
You never forget.

Date: 2005-09-11 09:38 pm (UTC)Here, we have the "Freedom March" which is blocked from sight by high barriers and waves of police, and oh, if you show up and haven't already signed up for the thing, you'll be arrested.
Not making any of this up. The "Freedom March" of rememberance (Cornpone cliched jingoistic concert free) is locked down tighter than the March for Women's Lives was.

You don't know me; Sharyn pointed me your way. Just wanted to throw my amen into the chorus.
