New Year's Eve recap

lagilmanAnd lo, another NYE party down without too much trauma.
No, it was great fun. Fifteen for a formal sit-down is pushing it, but I managed without losing my mind, thanks to folk chipping in with some fabulous appetizers, including an olive tapanade and stuffed mushrooms, and perfectly stinky cheeses to go with the boar pate and herbed tomato crostini, and fresh breads, and things I've forgotten but were tasty.
Dinner was chicken fontina and my special lasagna, plus a wilted greens salad, honey-glazed baby carrots, and some to-die-for wines.
And then on to desserts, which were, as always, total overkill. Yum. Ouzo-pepermint truffles, and fudge, and ruggelach and more cheeses, and....
And more wine, and French champagne and Italian sparkling wine, and martinis and ports and the annual ouzo shot salute to the old year, and...
A good time was had by all. And in the morning there were bagels and lox and leftover cheeses and chocolates and bloody marys and the yearly reading of the Cosmo Sex-horoscopes...
And then we kicked everyone out around 3 and started the long slog of cleanup. But it's worth it.
