I had mentioned this below, but was informed that it needed its own post, with explanation.

So. On Friday, June 3rd, I will be attending Book Expo America in New York City, to do a signing in support of Curse the Dark (early reading copies? May very well be!) and Staying Dead. We (myself and two other Luna auhtors) are scheduled for 1-2 pm at the Luna/Harlequin booth.

BEA is a book professionals trade fair for publishers, reviewers, librarians, booksellers, authors, etc, not a public event. If you can qualify under one of those headings (i.e. have a business card or company letterhead), and have the cash to burn (membership for three days is, I think, about $150, BEA is something to experience at least once. Plus, membership gets you into the signings. :-)

Just remember to wear comfortable walking shoes. Lots of booths you'll want to visit. Lots and lots of booths. And freebies!

You can get more information on the signings here.

If anyone is going to be in town for the event, let me know!

I like your music! Do your felines attempt birdcalls? I have had a couple of cats who seem to, although the sound they make is not very birdlike; we call it The Ack-Ack Song.

Startlingly enough, I will be cruising Book Expo -- a client for whom I've been doing assorted consulting has asked me to attend and scope it out on their behalf. I will be on the floor Friday and at least parts of Saturday & Sunday (have been working out the logistics of catching an old friend's performance in Denzel's JULIUS CAESAR, getting native-guide-for-dinner advice from [livejournal.com profile] greeneyedkzin, and reading the NY Transit Web sites to help memorize applicable subway routes).

I have already been advised by various parties to come with large tote bag in hand for collecting Goodies (fortunately, I am also advised that there is a box-and-ship room available so that you can send the Goodies home without having to lug them through airport security).

Hello, I am a librarian/bookseller and I will be attending the Expo. I look forward to meeting you as I greatly enjoyed Staying Dead. After I finished it, I had to promptly track down Murder by Magic just to read your short story. I will be crossing my fingers that ARCs of Curse the Dark will be available. See you there.
