The Writing Life: Stuff and Sundry
Apr. 4th, 2005 06:25 pmI have not been producing on The Book as fast as I want to. Far too much Real Life going on for writing comfort. And yet, there is progress.
Best bit of the day: "Melanie’s voice had gone sharp and hard, exactly like the parent of a five-year-old pushed to the final limit, and Wren could hear the train alarms ringing, signaling blood about to hit the tracks."
I had thought this book was about one thing. It seems to be about another, and I didn't even realize it until the third time the theme came up out of nowhere. Gee, the author thinks, that wasn't in the outline. And yet, it fits.
In the meantime, other bits o' writing accomplished, including the next lecture in the "Cashing the Reality Check" series which started last night. Guys, that was me easing you into it. Be ready...
Oh, and sent off a couple of stories into the Great Unknown, knapsacks over their shoulders, looking for new homes, and another few to Fictionwise for coding and posting. Will let you know when those go live.
