Not unexpected -- she was sent home from the hospital earlier this month, by her own wish, to pass her final days among familiar surroundings -- but...

She was a truly great lady, and she will be missed.

I always found it ironic that, of all her work in SF/F, it was a "boy's adventure" book that spoke so loudly to me. But I adored that story -- it was the first time I wanted to be on the adventure with a character, not just reading about it.
