one promo bit, and a weekend wrapup
Oct. 14th, 2012 08:49 amOh hey, look! Or rather, listen! My podcast with Emily Craven at eBook Revolution is up!
My weekend, recapped:
Thursday I got my flu shot, and spent Friday sitting on the sofa working and waiting for the slight vaccine-related meh to pass. Having spent 3 weeks with H1N1 wanting to die back in 2009, I am perfectly willing to deal with a little meh in order to avoid getting the flu again.
Yesterday I was at New York Comic Con for the day - mostly as a civillian, since I hadn't expected to be home this weekend - and then out for dinner and drinks with friends.
Today I am back at my desk, facing down deadlines and recovering from OMG all the PEOPLE! (and the inevitable soul-sucking from the Javits Center). Bagels and huevos ranchero may also be involved. Possibly also football.
EtA: and also, cooking.
Giants were playing a late game out in San Francsico, and I had a load of editing to do, so I wanted something that would be low-impact, tasty, and not have to be timed to a fare-the-well. So I went with that cliche of cookery: apple-braised pork chops.
It is a cliche for good reason. Nom.
Rub the pork with herbes de Provence and brown 'em, set aside. Toss some garlic into the pan and brown that, add applesauce (preferably chunky, home-made) and some hot paprika, and several generous dollops of Dijon mustard, mix and bring to a simmer. Add the pork back in. Add as much cider as needed to not-quite-cover the meat. Simmer until tender. Or even longer, if you're busy watching the game/intent on the manuscript....
