Have I mentioned recently how much I love Autumn?

Woke up this morning and the bedroom was downright chilly, despite the new, comfy down quilt. So yeah, maybe it's time to shut the windows before bed, going forward.

My editor is not in the office today. I still sent the manuscript in this morning. Let it be on HER desk, not MINE. And if, in the next few days, I suddenly figure out what was horribly wrong with it, I can replace the files, no harm no foul.

And so... back to the OTHER book I go. I took a break from it to finish Project A, but now it has my Undivided Attention. Especially since Madame Editrix needs feedback on the copy for it. Eeeep. Maybe I'll just write it for them and be done with it

So that's my next few weeks (months) sorted.

Well, except for the freelance gigs I have to deal with, and the short story I need to write, and the sample chapters I'm working on for future projects and my need to get back to That Damn Project before my brain overflows into everything else I'm writing, and....

Autumn: when the meerkat comes out of her warm-weather hibernation and gets all work-y 'n shit. *happy-brain/happy-body dance*

the new desk/office set-up:



The laptop is hooked up to the monitor so I can run all the internet-stuff and research pages on the larger screen, where it's accessible but not a distraction, and work directly on the laptop. The thing to the right of the ledge is not an in-box, it's a kit-in-box. You know what's usually there...

Behind the chair is about 5' of open space (great for pushing back the chair and putting my feet up on the ledge).  The edge visible to the left is the cafe table I use for meals - it's covered in paper right now but easy enough to move it into the open space and have an Actual Dinner Table.

I wasn't sure how well this would work, with my back to the rest of the main room, but so far, so productive.... (and the cats seem happy to hang out in the box, or on the sofa/window ledge to the right.)  So yeah, I miss my beautiful huge workdesk, but in a "it was lovely but this works better" kind of a way....
