For those who asked... (office space update)

the new desk/office set-up:



The laptop is hooked up to the monitor so I can run all the internet-stuff and research pages on the larger screen, where it's accessible but not a distraction, and work directly on the laptop. The thing to the right of the ledge is not an in-box, it's a kit-in-box. You know what's usually there...

Behind the chair is about 5' of open space (great for pushing back the chair and putting my feet up on the ledge).  The edge visible to the left is the cafe table I use for meals - it's covered in paper right now but easy enough to move it into the open space and have an Actual Dinner Table.

I wasn't sure how well this would work, with my back to the rest of the main room, but so far, so productive.... (and the cats seem happy to hang out in the box, or on the sofa/window ledge to the right.)  So yeah, I miss my beautiful huge workdesk, but in a "it was lovely but this works better" kind of a way....

Ah, it's a pity that the cats weren't camwhoring for this pic.

One of my cats like to sit right behind the laptop and look over or around the screen at me. That's better then when he decides to help me click keys and move the mouse, and even more better than when he decides the keyboard is a sleeping pad.

I love love LOVE the idea of having the internet and research stuff on a separate screen entirely - within "reach" so to speak but not in the way.

Looks very nice. It's always weird shifting work spaces around but it's awesome when they work out

That looks good, though, as a tall person I am wondering where you fit your knees!

As a short person, I don't need to shove my knees under the desk - they fit fine in front. :-)

(although it is nice to stretch out and put my feet up, and work with the laptop in my lap. ElderCat's less fond of that, though.)

I also tend to work while sitting cross-legged in the chair. I know, I know, other people have told me that's weird, too.
