Things good, things bad, things are okay.
Sep. 12th, 2012 07:45 amSo last night I was on Functional Nerds, talking about, among other things, the writer-brain and the layered writing process. With luck, I sounded both nerdy and functional, but between the previous night's insomnia and some tech difficulties on my end, I'm not convinced of it. Still, I remembered to say 'screwed" instead of "fucked" so at least my usual "I'm on the air, damn it" filters were working. You'll be able to determined for yourself next week how I did.
And today, I'm dealing with a client who is stalling/trying to avoid having to pay me the remaining monies due on the completion of work on my end. *sighs* We're not talking a huge amount of money here - if the client refuses to pay me, then it's probably not worth me going after them in small claims court, even though I'll be scrambling to pay a few bills this month. But, every other client from here on in will feel the result of it... (the last time I got stiffed, I started insisting on 1/3 payment up front, rather than trusting the client to pay in full at the end. It may go up to 1/2, now.) Meh.
Other than that, though.... it's a lovely sunny, cool September day, I have work that interests me on the desktop, reasonable clients on deck, and a lovely few weekends coming up to look forward to, filled with family, friends, food, and music. And Capclave, all other events willing. I will hold on to that, and motor on....
My favorite line from yesterday's work: "“It’s okay,” Ginny said. “We’ve seen dead bodies before."
