So I'm re-reading bits of SHIFTER'S DESTINY, because I wanted to check on how I'd done something (I wrote this book over a year ago, so I wasn't quite remembering correctly) and now I have the urge to 'steal' the Mustang herd for a straight fantasy story because really, these were-unicorns kind of rock.
That's the thing about putting in deep worldbuilding - it gives back as much as it takes, in effort. I now have an entire herd of shape-shifters, living in the pre-white American West, adapting over generations, losing their herd lifestyle but still maintaining a close-knit cultural and magical identity, connected to the traditional mythology while still modernizing ( spoiler ) so the culture can survive....
Yeah. I need to do something with that. In my copious spare time of which I have none. And inevitably someone will claim I ripped off poor Anna Leonard....
and now I have to try and get a bike ride in before a) it rains and b) the temps hit 90. Yes, again.
