and the sun is out, making some people think this would be a fabulous time to go for a walk. me, looking at the damage (nothing major, but a lot of branches down, and flooding even up here at the highest point in the area) am staying put.

My building, as ever, justified my faith in it - no leaks, no shudders, and no loss of power. The trees I worried about remained intact (although at one point early this morning the one outside my bedroom window was swaying in a rather disturbing manner, considering it's five stories high.)

And now, having toasted some of yesterday's banana bread, and making a fresh pot of coffee, I'm settling in to do some work, undistracted by the weather reports... (we still have the backside of Irene to go, but the strongest winds have passed - now it's all about the storm surges and the flooding, neither of which is a primary concern up here). Lots of emergency vehicles going by, tho.

Have just heard that my sister's town was evacuated. Waiting to get an update from her....
