Culture, high and otherwise.

So last night I got the chance to see Orpheus Chamber Orchestra perform at the Rose Theater @ Jazz at Lincoln Center. Although we were in the hoi polloi seats (no black tie gala for us!), the experience was delightful - Orpheus performs without a conductor, and the musicians change up positions according to the piece, not a pre-set seat (causing the stage at times to look like an old-school "Chinese fire drill.") At certain points I was totally lost in the music, which is unusual for me - my brain rarely stops going.

Anyway, the venue is beautiful, and the music was beautiful, and guest soloist violinist Ryu Goto ... sonofabitch is 22. TWENTY-TWO. I can't wait to hear what he's doing when he's in his 30's.

And yes, I got home in time to watch the season finale of Castle. Squeeing and OMGing and acking ensued.


(a fabulous, twisty holy shit everyone-gets-damaged ep until the last 6 seconds, at which point I think they overplayed the trope and will have to be verrrrry careful not to be a cliche when season 7 opens. But I'll be there anyway because OMG. Is it hot in here or was it just them?)
