So last night I got the chance to see Orpheus Chamber Orchestra perform at the Rose Theater @ Jazz at Lincoln Center. Although we were in the hoi polloi seats (no black tie gala for us!), the experience was delightful - Orpheus performs without a conductor, and the musicians change up positions according to the piece, not a pre-set seat (causing the stage at times to look like an old-school "Chinese fire drill.") At certain points I was totally lost in the music, which is unusual for me - my brain rarely stops going.

Anyway, the venue is beautiful, and the music was beautiful, and guest soloist violinist Ryu Goto ... sonofabitch is 22. TWENTY-TWO. I can't wait to hear what he's doing when he's in his 30's.

And yes, I got home in time to watch the season finale of Castle. Squeeing and OMGing and acking ensued.


(a fabulous, twisty holy shit everyone-gets-damaged ep until the last 6 seconds, at which point I think they overplayed the trope and will have to be verrrrry careful not to be a cliche when season 7 opens. But I'll be there anyway because OMG. Is it hot in here or was it just them?)

I the last six seconds were perfectly in character for that character-- had the situation been reversed, I would've been, "Oh, no, no, NO." Yanno, clichés exist for a reason-- but like you say, it's how they play it when they get back and I suspect Marlowe knows what he's doing, at least if the interviews I've read are any indication.

That said, I was left with nothing but "OMG WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" at the end.

my only annoyance was "didn't they do this last season?" But OMG Castle. He really should be emotionally roughed up more often, it's good for him. And us. :-)

And OMG the Boys. Poor, poor Boys. *pets them*


(I also spent a lot of time thinking "why aren't these idiots wearing vests?" But that's just me, being practical...)

Augh, the Boys broke me. Esposito hitting Ryan and Ryan refusing to back down. (How I adore that spunky little Irish Catholic boy with the backbone o'steel.) And the single tear running down Ryan's face when Beckett declared that no one outside their immediate family ever needed to know what had happened. And that she declared them a family.
