...and back again

Home from a weekend runaway to Cape May (NJ), w/ G, who rather badly needed the downtime. Wine, beach-walking, excellent food, and fine conversation refilled the well/recharged the batteries nicely. And I am pleased to see that The Brass Bed B&B as-was is in good hands with the new owners as The Bacchus Inn [always a worry when there are new owners.....]

As we were there before the season officially began, many things weren't open (no dinner at 410 Bank Street alas) and the wind was occasionally rough, but hiking along the wildlife preserves and seeing hawks overhead and swans on the water, and rabbits in the underbrush (a well as the ever-present marsh deer) was worth an occasional chill.

Now...laundry. And answering the email I ignored for 2 days (eeek)

Genre for Japan was set up by a group of genre fans & professionals to raise money for the BRC's Japan Tsunami appeal by auctioning special items donated by the SFF field.

"The highest bidder will receive an ARC of DRAGON VIRUS by Laura Anne Gilman: a limited-edition hardcover story collection to be published by Fairwood Press in June of this year.

It will also include a remarque of some sort to distinguish it from an “ordinary” reviewer’s galley. The higher the bid, the more elaborate the remarque (for example: a reasonable bid might have a limerick or haiku. A high bid could have a piece of original flash fiction)"
