lagilman: coffee or die (nap attack)
May the new year dawn bright and sweet, and may the worst day of 5766 be better than the best day of 5765 for us all, personally and as a world's population.

Me, I spent the weekend run-away-from-home, off in a distant city doing on-site research for one book that turned out to also be research for another book, letting a hotel coddle me (and my cough-sniffle), and generally reconnecting with my inner sloth (who isn't actually all that slothful, but relative to my usual self I was positively indolent). Many thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] agamisu, who suggested the trip in the first place, and made such a wonderful city-host/tour guide.

And now to type up all my notes, have my photos developed, and download and wade through all the e-mail that piled up while I was gone... (oh, and apologize some more to Pandora, who is Deeply Peeved that I went away without her again).

ETA: And why the hell is it that no matter what non-local city I end up in, by my second day someone will stop me and ask me for directions? And not always in English, either?

(three times, this weekend. Once I was able to help, the other two I just shrugged and did my best 'stranger here myself' routine.)

sent to me via my friend Lucienne, who has a subscription, I suspect, to every single review magazine on this earth...

Curse The Dark (boxed, five stars!):

"Fans of Tanya Huff will cherish Curse the Dark, a fabulous romantic fantasy that showcases how talented Laura Anne Gilman is."

Just got my author copies of HOW ECONOMICS WORKS: ECONOMICS, as published after a very long delay by Lerner Publications.

They did a pretty good job of the layout, I have to say. But gods, am I glad that project's finally over!

Also got word that the YOUNG WARRIORS anthology has been sold in Australia. Yay! Mainly I heard about this because they want to do some Australian-centric editing my Australia-set story. When I am less tired I will look at the notes -- I think there are myabe three points, and one's certainly valid and the other two sound like PC-ish concerns that I might have to get cranky about...

But foreign sales are foreign sales and we do like foreign sales, we do.
