Yes, some of you may have seen this post before. You'll see it again. Possibly until I manage to get every single person reading here to donate, even if it's only a dollar or two, or to pass the word along to someone who is in a position to donate.

This is that important to me.

Every year, I participate in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women in New York City. Created in 1993 through the committed and collective efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman, and The Davis Group, the Revlon Run/Walk For Women has grown to become one of the nation's largest 5K fundraising events. To date, the Run/Walks (LA/NY) have raised over 22 million dollars to help find a cure for cancer.

That's $22 million dollars that goes directly towards research, not P.R. or administrative costs.

And it's not enough.

Every year, I seem to add another name to the list of people I'm walking for, either in honor of their struggle, or in memory of their lives.

The thing is, when friends and family are threatened, our instincts are to rush to their aid. But cancer can't be fought that way. All we can do is stand and wait and pray. And, all too often, mourn.

Or we can do our best to ensure that the odds shift in their favor, by funding research. To ensure that, in the future, the battle becomes an easily-winnable skirmish.

You can help. You know how.

And so the day passes, and dusk falls, and people are going insane at the supermarket. But not me. I went already. I shall not starve.

*eye rolling*

Seriously, people, the forecast says we're going to get a foot+ of snow, yeah. If you spend the next 48 hours without milk or bread? Not going to be the end of the word. In fact, I suspect that by Sunday, most of us are going to be able to get to some kind of food store.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. The Hudson froze last night, and we're officially under a blizzard warning, starting noon tomorrow. Finally! it's winter! I plan to throw some soup makings onto the stove, make some hot cocoa, wrap up in some blankets, and hunker down with my projects-under-deadline. And then, once the snow ends and the winds die down... sledding!

Today was spent working on a client project, which is a nice change-up for my brain. I love editing. So long as it's not my own stuff. *wry g* On the my-own-stuff front, there's a short fiction reject (no surprise, that editor has yet to buy anything of mine), and the workup for Retrievers #3 which is currently called Better Fences, sent to l'agent (all hail her). And still working on revisions. Wheee.

And in the world outside, meanwhile, a Conservative Christian group has obviously had their meds misadjusted. You've heard about this, yes? They're claiming that the We Are Family video is using Spongebob Squarepants to "promote homosexuality among six year olds across the country."

To their credit, without actually doing anything other than reading the scroll, the newsreaders maanged to give their opinion of that story by their very post-story silence (the only comment made was one woman at the desk going "hmmmph.") But seriously, folks. Saying "we should all respect and love each other? Regardless of the flaws of each of our lives?" That's not an idea original to this tape. In fact, some guy names Jesus was reported to have said it, too...

And it's cold out. Didn't think I'd forget to mention that, did you? They claim it's 20 degrees. They lie.
