So yesterday was the 1-year birthday party for Luna Books, a virtual celebration spanning 24 hours, several continents, a double-handful of time zones, and a lot of really crazy-in-a-good-way, creative people, readers and authors and support staff alike.

Much fun. Exhausting, but fun.

Been a hell of a year, yeah, but not all in bad ways. Because it also gave us a brand-new, well-supported genre imprint. Long may Luna shine!

Publishers' Lunch has changed their deal reporting guidelines, as follows:

"nice deal" $1 - $49,000
"very nice deal" $50,000 - $99,000
"good deal" $100,000 - $250,000
"significant deal" $251,000 - $499,000
"major deal" $500,000 and up

I've never been quite sure if this was supposed to be per book, or per deal... I suspect people adjust the wording as they will, to make the most impressive announcement. It is, after all, all about the P.R.

Personally, I think anything above $30,000 per book should be considered a Very Nice Deal. And anything above $500,000 a F*cking Miracle. But then, I work in genre and so my standards may be a bit more pragmatic than my lit'ry counterpart's.
