Because All My Friends Are Doing It...

You are Simon, the young, brilliant doctor. Your
devotion to your sister drove you to part with
the world you knew. Raised on a civilized
planet, you are not used to coping with the
situation you have landed yourself in - though
you seem to be adapting well enough to suggest
robbing a hospital.
Which Firefly character are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
Okay, I'm not really surprised by that. Sadly.
Ewwwwwwwwwww.

That show was one of the WORST ones on TV. It is also the show that was the main reason that Farscape got cancelled. The cost of Farscape was double the cost of Firefly, so they cancelled a great show to replace it with a CHEAP, HORRIBLE ONE.
Go Tinsle Town!!!

Date: 2005-01-09 11:27 pm (UTC)Um, exqueeze me? Farscape's cancellation had NOTHING to do with Firefly, and everything to do with Farscape's ratings going into the toilet.
Re: Ewwwwwwwwwww.
Date: 2005-01-09 11:30 pm (UTC)Leaving aside questions of the relative merits of Firefly versus Farscape, the two shows had precisely nothing to do with each other. Firefly was a show produced by Mutant Enemy for the Fox network. Farscape was a show produced by the Jim Henson Company for Sci-Fi. Two different studios, two different networks (one owned by the 20th Century Fox Corporation, one owned by NBC-Universal), neither of which had a damn thing to do with each other.
On top of that, Firefly was cancelled before Farscape was -- Firefly aired in the fall of 2002; Farscape's last episode aired in the summer of 2003.

Date: 2005-01-10 12:34 am (UTC)Cowboys in space was already done in a much BETTER way... The Original Star Trek.
I loved B5, Original Star Trek, and Farscape.
Firefly was basically cheesy cowboys in space. Their main ship looked like a cow, and the design team even admitted it in interviews.
One thing is good... at least it didn't last long enough to get REALLY cheesy like Next Generation.

Date: 2005-01-09 11:58 pm (UTC)Beyond that, I echo what is said below -- one's success rate had nothing to do with the other, not the least because they were different production companies being aired on different networks.
If you have facts otherwise to back your claim up, bring 'em on. We're (mostly) reasonable people here...
