Jon Stewart's book banned in portions of Mississippi.

I need to get myself banned somewhere, that's what I need. I need for some high school teacher to decide that my book is too dangerous for impressionable teens to read...

I'm mildly surprised it hasn't been challenged somewhere. All that magic is of Satan, y'know.

The ban in Mississippi was reversed after they received calls and e-mails from across the country.

I keep hoping. I mean, there's all this explicit sex and violence and demon worship, and then some idiot in Booklist or Library Journal or whatever starts saying I write YA stuff, but I can't get _banned_. Where's the justice? Where's the _money_?

You're genre, so you're beneath the radar. You have to publish as mainstream and put all that stuff in there. I mean, everyone had conniptions over American Psycho, and all Ellis was doing was what horror novelists had been doing for decades. But he's Bret Easton friggin Ellis, so it's a big deal, whereas nobody blinks when Jack Ketcham or Adam-Troy Castro does it. *rolleyes*

I heard about that!

I work at a library in Tennessee and a lot of our patrons are checking it out thinking that it was an actual patriotic history book instead of satire. I had an elderly woman come in brandishing the book above her head and yelling, "This thing isn't worth the paper its printed on!"

It's kinda scary in a funny way.

...all this coming from a state that has the rebel flag embedded on its state flag and can still muster a thousand member klan rally...not really shocking. In fact, quite dissapointing that there wasn't a F 451 party.
