Trump Team asks State Department to Name Those Working on Gender Equality.

via NPR and the New York Times:

"President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has asked the State Department to list its workers who focus on gender equality and ending violence against women, in what's being seen as an echo of an earlier request for the Energy Department to list employees who work on climate change.

In a brief email that was sent Wednesday morning, the Trump team asked the State Department's bureaus and offices to list any programs or activities that "promote gender equality, such as ending gender-based violence, promoting women's participation in economic and political spheres, entrepreneurship, etc."

(emphasis mine)

I’m sure there’s nothing at all untoward about their request, any more than their asking for the names of scientists who went to climate change conferences was untoward.  Nope.  Nothing at all disquieting about the transition team’s interest, nope.

Hopefully State will continue the resistance. Damn it, I wonder if there's anyone we can write/call to encourage it?

For that matter, given the nature of the request, the Trump team could do their own damn research if they really cared about it, because that information is readily available if they'd bestir their asses and LOOK. I wonder how much of this is a probe to see which departments will cave to their demands and how much of it is genuine information seeking. This may suggest that they are just a bunch of lazy f*cks who think we're going to roll over and play dead if they bluster--and that may end up being a positive situation because they're either too lazy or too incompetent to figure it out for themselves.

(I mean, really. Come on. All that stuff is public information. It wouldn't take that long for a staffer to dig it out on their own. Typical example of a sort of bean-counter, lazy-ass corporate attitude that infects too damn many short-term thinking corporate leaders. Too damn lazy to find the information themselves, connected with lots of bluster and bloviating. I saw a lot of examples of this sort of thinking at a remove in my husband's former company before he retired.)

(And yes. I'm in a p*ssy mood. I'll be even more p*ss*er if State rolls over.)

Yeah. I see all three of your scenarios as likely, and perhaps even a combination of all three (IOW, I don't see them as mutually exclusive, perhaps with different people with differing motives).
