lagilman: coffee or die (Boomer)

I have things I need to do (upload this month's Westward Bound post to Book View Cafe, answer emails, write many many words, start reading the new massive reference book I picked up yesterday), but first I have to pick up the rental car, then put the cat into the rental car, then take the cat to their new vet and leave them there for a day's worth of glucose curve testing.

During which I will probably be checking out the local-to-the-vet cafe that seems to have Real Proper NY Bagels. Report to come.

If you're speaking of Eltana, which is right across the street from the vet in question, you might want to adjust your expectations. They're not real proper NY bagels as we know them, but they are very good indeed--NOT round white bread, as so many bagels throughout the US are. They're a third kind of thing: wood-fired and quite delicious. And Eltana offers all sorts of delicious cheeses--personally, I love the honey-almond cream cheese. And be sure to look for the pad with the weekly crossword puzzle. It's created by my friend Mike Selinker, a true puzzlemaster, and it's always clever and challenging.

There is, indeed, an Eltana outpost at the Armory in Seattle Center. Just as tasty there as at the storefront by the vet, though I suspect they won't have the crossword puzzles I noted (which are a key attraction for me, too).
