lagilman: coffee or die (Castiel Kitten of Thursday)

We've reached the point where, if I forget to give CatofSize his shot, he reminds me. I wouldn't have believed it, myself, and yet... there he was, sitting on the sofaback, looking at me like "hey mom, we're not done here yet!"

Huh.  Good kid.

(then I had a moment of panic, because once you've done something enough times it's hard to remember if you did or didn't do it that morning, because all the memories are exactly the same....but no, I hadn't)

Meanwhile, today the Kitten of Thursday goes in for his almost-a-year checkup.  Yes, he's been with us eight months!  I can't believe it either.

and now, Your Daily Reminder (4th of 5 in a series)

We're in the final days and still a bit short of the goal...

Literally, only a bit short.  As in $485.  With 55 hours (tick, tick...) to go!

So, if you enjoyed the urban fantasy of the Cosa Nostradamus, this is how to keep it alive. Also, the opportunity to dedicate the books to yourself (or a loved one) is still available as a backer bonus!

(also, t-shirts.  And cookies!)

and for those of you who missed the first novellas, a reminder of where you can find them:
DRM-free digital (or with DRM from Amazon, B&N or Kobo),
the omnibus print edition
audio.

Re: a moment of panic, if you keep a small calendar next to where you give him his shot, and mark each day off when you've done it, would that help? I have some medicine now that I'll only be taking for another few days, but I had the same problem: Did I already take it? So I started turning the bottle upside down when I took it. It's in the kitchen so I'm in and out of there all day; I usually notice it upside down in the afternoon and set it right again so it's ready for a re-set the next morning. I don't how you'd apply that to an injection, though...

I was also going to suggest a paper calendar. We have one for giving Alex his pill, which helps to make sure he doesn't get it twice (since any of the three of us might give it to him) as well as making sure he does get it once.

Oh yeah, bits of paper are doom. We keep a business card–sized calendar taped to the tin that holds cat meds, and a pen in the tin. Open the tin, give the pill, use the pen to mark the calendar, put it all away, done.

The human mind is hilarious, no? Think about how hard it is to remember whether the dishes in the dishwasher have been washed (First World Problem, I know) - *especially* if more than one person lives in the house!

A classic DIRTY / CLEAN sign on the front of the dishwasher works very well for us, actually, as do routines (I always run the dishwasher at night, J always empties it in the morning).
