lagilman: coffee or die (citron presse)

Last night was the Official Family Observance of Eldest Nephew's College Graduation earlier this month (double major of Economics and Urban Planning required an extra semester of classes).

So we went to Craft.

There was an amuse bouche of artichoke soup, starters of trotter with farm egg, pumpkin agnolotti and a wild arugula with lemon salad.

Father-of-the-Graduate and I may have split an assortment of roasted and braised suckling pig bits.

Along with tastes of my sister's Rohan Duck (and yes I did make a LoTR joke), my mom's short ribs, the boys' swordfish and striped bass, and sides of butternut squash, potatoes gratin, and baby artichoke risotto.

And then, to finish, there was gingerbread with quince, moscato, and creme fraiche, chocolate souffle with mint chocolate Anglaise, and cranberry-apple crisp, shared around with 8 forks.

Have you ever seen a more sated group of foodies ever?

The wine list, by the way, reduced me to incoherent whimpers and had to be removed from my trembling hands. Will someone with an unlimited budget please take me there some day? We ended up with a nice Piedmont Ruché 2011 that worked surprisingly well with all the options (the guys having fish stuck with beer).

Oh, and I highly approve of the Persia - vodka, pomegranate, fresh lemon and mint. I need to learn the proportions for that sucker.

This is all to explain why I didn't have the slightest urge to eat anything until around 7pm tonight.
