Below be spoilers for Agents of Shield and Person of Interest

Okay, the first ep of Agent of Shield clearly an origins story, but we all knew that was going to happen.

"He can never know." And a entire legion of fans goes we KNEW there was something….. ‘cause this is Joss. We never get good news without a worm turning somewhere.…

Large cast - if you haven’t been following the media build up (I wasn’t), it’s going to take a while to keep them all clear. However, the tech twins are adorable. The jet would give the crew at Criminal Minds small penis syndrome. The snark is sharp. And it’s a show you have to actually watch carefully (and probably more than once) to catch everything that’s going on under the seemingly simple surface.

Fanservice asides that don’t actually slow the story.

And there’s an actual human story, as we would expect nothing less from Joss when he’s on his game.

Lola is gorgeous. I’m totally crushing on Lola already.

The only off note I found was in the speechifying at the end - the “giants and mortals” thing went on a bit too long, as though everyone watching wasn’t already on that train… But there was enough snark, sass, and intelligently-used violence to mostly balance that. Next week look like we get into the fast-paced fun 100%

Person of Interest:

"…that does not qualify as an attack." There speaks someone who has lived through a NYC Fleet Week.

…and yeah, there’s the inevitable bar fight

(Fleet Week is great fun for the locals, too. So long as you keep it a spectator sport. We really missed ‘em this year.)

Oh Root, you don’t even know how damaged you are. And that’s kind of endearing. Sick, and dangerous, but endearing.

Summation: Carter is awesome in uniform, and out. Reese is perfecting his second-in-command with the enlarged crew. Shaw is the platonic ideal of a wildcard. Fusco is Fusco (never change, Fusco). Root is so, so damaged. I desperately want a fic where Finch and Coulson sit down and discuss management techniques for problem children…..

"I have a feeling things about about to get a lot more complicated."

"For the first time in my life I’m a little scared about what might happen."

Yeah, by the time SPN comes back on line, Tuesdays are going to be utter productivity write-offs for me. Although I might get some knitting done...
