lagilman: coffee or die (Castiel Kitten of Thursday)

And he was a trooper - indignant at indignities like the thermometer and his shots, but otherwise polite and not-too-vocal (for Cas-standards, he was quiet. Unnerving, that.) All the kitten boosters are done, and we're set until he hits the year-old mark.

We discussed his steal-from-Boomer eating habits, and the vet gave the ok to mingle the senior and kitten dried food, for as long as needed - so long as he's eating most of his kitten wet food, there shouldn't be a problem. I'd say: two weeks out of the shelter, and Cas has almost doubled his weight to a lean but solid five pounds. I was worried for a bit until I realized that he's GROWN, too. I don't notice, seeing him every day, but yeah.

Based on his current size, age, and feet, the vet thinks Cas will end up full-grown around 12-15 pounds. Oh dear lord.

Oh and yeah, "definitely Oriental blood in there. Possibly Siamese. Good luck."

I'm being punished for some sin in a previous life here, aren't I?

*geek cred if you recognize the source of the quote

Well, that explains the vocalization.

I adore Siamese... All my cats growing up were Siamese, and they're fantastic! Strong-willed, yes, but what cat isn't?

So happy to hear that Cas is doing well!

He sounds like a fun boy! Really. One of my most-missed kitties was a big tuxedo boy about Cas's projected size, full Siamese voice, and gregarious as all get-out. Granted, he basically Had A Territory and was Top Cat whereever we lived (despite being neutered), and we um--did have those door-perching incidents, but overall, he was a fun cat to have.

Good to hear Cas is doing well. I'm guessing the quote is a variation on "when you look into the abyss, the abyss looks back"?

I am amused.

Having insufficient geek cred, I Googled "possibly Siamese good luck" to see where the quote might have come from.

Google turns up...

...wait for it...

...exactly one result: this LJ entry.

So much for Google's geek cred, I guess.

Heh.

I had figured that out, and was trying to edit the comment to reflect it (and get some comedy out of my reading-comprehension-fail), when LJ told me there'd been a reply.

I shall now go thwack myself on the forehead and try to recover my dignity.

Tybalt was a part-Siamese black cat and one of the best cats I've ever known. You'll be fine.

If voice is a requirement, Pumba's forebears hailed from someplace other than Thailand. But he's fifteen pounds of total sweetness. I wouldn't want him an ounce smaller. :-) Cheers to Cas on the clean bill of health!

I'm beginning to get the feeling that we have brothers of other mothers in our households.
