Pandora and the Visiting Calico have come to spats once again. Although I think in this case Pandora called it down on herself: she spent all day (when she wasn't galumphing around knocking things over) sitting by the window until the Calico showed up, then went and hissed this stuttering little hiss out the screen until the Calico lunged, and then it was a claws-against-screen free-for-all for about three seconds until I yelled at them to knock it off.

Christ, it's like having two little kids underfoot. "He toooouuucchhhhed me!" "Well, if you didn't poke him, first..."

Now she's out on the balcony, staring intently at everything that moves and Protecting her Turf. Cats. Jesus.

Two limber kids armed with weapons, yet.

DB amuses me, because he has very clearly ceded the entire outside (he used to be an indoor/outdoor cat before I got him) in favor of having complete control of the inside. There's a stay that I like to pet and fuss over, and one day I left the door open. The stray started to snoop inside...

And DB came out of nowhere like the Wrath of God. Surprisingly, he stopped short right at the threshhold, even though the door was open. However, he glared at the shut door for the rest of the day, psychically daring the stray to come near it.

Yup. Sounds like Marcus since Aoki came into our lives. :)

When [livejournal.com profile] kradical mentions the Tom & Jerry show, he's not kidding. Aoki has really livened up the place, and she's learning to give Marcus back just as much attitude as the little drama queen is giving her, and I swear I've seen the "Sheesh, kids." eye roll out of Marcus on more than one occasion. It's like watching an old married couple sometimes. *chuckle*

My friend Rachel's cat Pastis, who is a house cat, spotted a prowling tom by the house when she was still quite young. She emitted such a dreadful noise that Rach - who was on the phone at the time (and who is normally a calm, unflappable person)- involuntarily screamed, thereby temporarily deafening a web designer in New York.

Glad that Pandora is neutered. Before Max was neutered, when a tom came by and they had a snarling match through the cracked window, he was so enraged he turned on the other cat, a slightly older female, Meg, and chased her all over the house, the two of them screaming and pissing all over everything.

This did not stop--it was as if he was in overdrive on hormones, and could not come down. We even tried drugging him. He'd try to stagger up and go over and grab a mouthful of neck fur, and then have no idea what to do as she slipped away.

He ended up spending Thanksgiving weekend at the vet's, to get snipped Monday AM. Feeling sorry for himself--but Meg was sure a lot calmer.

No more problems of that magnitude.... Until Max and Merlyn met Maisie the new cat. It's been over a year and they're still fighting. Are still separated. Sheesh....

W had an outdoor cat become indoor, and they had an agreement--Kitzin would handle the inside, if W ran off the outdoor cats. Which he did, for the extent of that cat's life.

I was certain you were a "no unwanted kittens" woman...

Today, Pandora has stayed away from the windows. I think she's all worn out.

Poor darling. It's hard being in charge of security.
