Having EARNED* a new toy this month, damn it, I now own an iThing Mini. Now to train it to be useful... (stop laughing! I know it can be done.)

I suspect I'll be using this much as I used to use my DayRunner - schedules and notes and thought-bits (and email!), with the additional plus of being able to sync it all to the laptop at the end of the day. But we'll see what else comes along...

Anyone have any (non-game) aps I should look at? (I already have Evernote up, and will load Scrivener as soon as they get the iOS version running)

And, since the laptop of hard-working is named Archie, I have decided to name the Mini Watson**. Clearly, I have a thing for cute-but-dangerous sidekicks. :-D

*mainly by not dying and/or killing anyone under extreme duress
**make your own short jokes
** I'm already calling it "Doc"

My Mini is also named Watson! I am an Evernote addict. Beyond that, Pulse is a feed aggregator that [livejournal.com profile] neadods recommended and I'm still finding my way around. Paper is a sketching/drawing app that's fun to play with. That's all I've got so far (I've had mine since November and I love it like pie).

Netflix, Audible, and the updated NASA app.

um... as for useful/work related.... I just got mine a month ago because we thought I was going to be on bed rest for at least another week, and then baby was born that night. However, I will note that the mini is much easier to use one handed than any other device I use (except maybe my phone). :)

I'm not an iGuy, but still...Dropbox for transferring files between iPad, laptop and other computers/devices.

I'm finding it extremely useful even on the Windows/Android side of things where I just plug my smartphone in and I can use it like a thumb drive. My iPad and iPhone-using friends swear by Dropbox over what I understand is having to use iTunes to transfer files.

Apps I Can't Live Without (some of these are on my phone, but I think they'll work on the ipad)

Pulse: RSS feed aggregator; turns your blogs into clickable filmstrips.

Days: (the naimapps one): simple calendar showing you days from, days to, and annual dates. Settable reminders.

CBT Referee still helps me keep my head on track when I feel I need that outside look

Stow: for packing lists, but you can customize your lists and turn them into templates.

Knitkeeper: Lists my yarn, needles, works in progress and if I wanted to, my patterns. As things grow, it's helping a lot to keep on track.

Insight Timer: Because setting a time and hearing a nice gong instead of a buzzer is always better on one's nerves.

Checklists Pro by partaheikki - for all the lists that don't include a suitcase.

Pages.
